How to Update an LG TV
Note: Exact steps and menu labels can vary depending on your LG TV model and webOS version. If something looks different on your screen, use the closest matching option, or refer to your owner’s manual or LG device support.
This article covers two different updates on LG TVs:
- Updating the Victory+ app
- Updating your LG TV system software
Updating the Victory+ app on LG TV
There are 2 common ways to update an app on LG TVs.
Method 1: Automatic update prompt
- Turn on your LG TV and confirm it is connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
- Press the Home button on your remote to open the app menu.
- Highlight the Victory+ app.
- Select the app using the center button on your remote.
- If an update is available, you will see an update prompt before the app launches. Select Update
- After the update, the app should launch automatically. If it does not, select Launch
Method 2: Manual update from the APPS menu
If you are not prompted for an update, you can check manually:
- Press the Home button on your remote.
- Select APPS
- Select More options (often shown as "⋯" in the top right).
- Select App Update
- Select Update All to update all apps.
Remove and reinstall the Victory+ app
If the app still is not working as expected after updating, you can remove it and reinstall it.
Note: You will need to pair your Victory+ account to your TV again after reinstalling.
Method 1: Remove from the APPS menu
- Press the Home button on your remote.
- Select APPS
- Select More options (often shown as "⋯" in the top right).
- Select Manage Apps or Manage App
- Find Victory+, then select Delete
Method 2: Remove from the Edit App List
- Press the Home button on your remote.
- Go to Edit App List (often found at the far right of the app row).
- Highlight the Victory+ app.
- Press the Up arrow to enter edit mode (if needed).
- Select the Trash icon.
- Confirm the deletion using the on screen prompt.
Reinstall the app
- From the home screen, go to APPS
- Search for Victory+
- Select Install
- Open Victory+ and complete pairing.
Updating your LG TV system software
- Turn on your LG TV and confirm it is connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
- Press and hold the Settings button on your remote (the gear icon).
- Select Support
- Select Software Update
- Select Check for Updates
- If available, enable Allow Automatic Updates so your TV updates automatically in the future.
