How to Update a Samsung TV
This article covers two different updates on Samsung TVs:
- Updating the Victory+ app
- Updating your Samsung TV system software
Note: Exact steps and menu labels can vary depending on your Samsung TV model and software version. If something looks different on your screen, use the closest matching option or refer to your TV manual or Samsung device support.
Updating the Victory+ app on Samsung TV
Option 1: Enable app auto updates (newer models)
If your TV is connected to the internet, it can update apps automatically. Updates typically apply the next time the TV is turned on.
- Turn on your Samsung TV and confirm it is connected to the internet (WiFi or Ethernet).
- Press the Home button on your remote.
- Select APPS
- Select the Settings icon (gear).
- Highlight Auto update and press Enter to toggle it on or off.
Option 2: Manually update apps (older models)
- Press the Smart Hub button on your remote.
- Select Featured
- Look for apps that show an update indicator (often a small arrow icon).
- Highlight an app that needs updating, then press and hold Enter until a submenu appears.
- Select Update apps
- Select Select All
- Select Update
- Wait for the updates to finish. You should see a progress indicator on the apps screen.
Updating your Samsung TV system software
Option 1: Enable system auto updates
If your TV is connected to the internet, it can install system updates automatically. Updates usually apply the next time the TV is turned on.
- Turn on your Samsung TV and confirm it is connected to the internet.
- Go to Settings, then select Support
- Select Software Update
- Select Auto Update to turn it on.
- Select Auto Update again to turn it off if needed.
Option 2: Update over the internet
- Turn on your Samsung TV and confirm it is connected to the internet.
- Go to Settings, then select Support
- Select Software Update
- Select Update Now
- Allow the update to download and install. Do not turn off the TV during the update.
- When the update finishes, the TV may restart automatically. If no update is available, select OK to exit.
